2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 Review – My Attitude My Bike : Hello friends, if you are thinking of buying a “Bike” and you have no detailed idea about car, I welcome you to this blog. Today I will let you know – “2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 Review”.

2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 is a hugely important bike for Husqvarna as it enters the highly competitive adventure market for the first time with the all new Norden 901. Under joint ownership with KTM, it will come as no surprise the new Norden shares many similarities with KTM’s highly acclaimed 890 Adventure, which is a fantastic base to start from. Husqvarna has aimed the Norden 901 between KTM’s base 890 Adventure and off-road purposed 890 Adventure R model. Is the Norden the best of both worlds or have they missed the mark?

Husqvarna is clearly confident in the new model because BikeSocial’s ‘Chad’ spent a couple of days of extensive testing on and off road on the stunning Azores islands. This was a true test of their global adventure bike in every condition imaginable, from tough off-road mud and sand to stunning switchback mountain passes in the wet and dry.

2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 Review : Powertrain & Range

Slotted into the frame of the bike is an engine that is fresh with updates for 2021 and 2022. The KTM group worked hard on the new 890 to improve on what was an already very capable unit. With 20% more internal mass, more torque and power, the latest generation parallel twin in the new Husky is a peach. Its delivery is smooth, with a gutsy low-end punch that means you can drag the bike out of pretty much any situation.

To help handle the extra grunt from the engine an improved slipper clutch is fitted along with a trick Motor Slip Control system that mitigates rear hopping through clever use of the throttle butterfly valves.

Power torque is the same quoted amounts as the bike’s orange cousin, meaning we have 105bhp and 74lb-ft of torque. In short, pretty much all you will need for any off-road and most of the on-road riding you’ll do. It has to be mentioned that if you were looking to do some proper long-distance touring, two-up with luggage, the 901 would probably begin to feel breathless. It’s a shame that at this moment in time there isn’t a bigger sibling waiting in the wings to scoop up any of those wayward customers.

The Norden gains a similaraly designed underslung fuel tank to the one found on the KTM 890 Adventure, although with one less litre of fuel capacity (down from 20 to 19 litres) it is noticeably slimmer and less bulbous in its styling. It does mean though that the bike loses out on the range front, and there is also a knock-on effect to the handling…

2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 Review : Performance

Husqvarna Norden 901 has the same steel trellis frame as the KTMs, though the Norden does use different suspension. There’s 220mm of front wheel travel and 215 rear, which is around halfway between an 890 Adventure and the more dirt-focused Adventure R, and the Husky is very softly sprung and comfortably damped. This is a good thing – on the road the WP units are comfortable and cosseting, with a progressive feel and plenty of feedback.

It’s nowhere near as stiff as the 890 R, and gives a softer, adventure-touring vibe. Take the Norden off the tarmac and you can bottom the suspension out without trying very hard. But I don’t think it’s the sort of machine you’d buy for hard off-road use. That’s what a KTM 890 Adventure R is for. For everyone else, the set up on the Norden will be better.

Our Opinion

Honestly, I think this was the thing I liked most about the 901. It was more than enough in every category I’d measure a motorcycle in, without being over the top and without leaving me wishing for a bit more. The technology is top shelf, the suspension components and powerplant are tried and true pieces KTM has been hammering away at for years now, and which the ADV community has come to love. It fills a space which needed to be filled. More advanced and well-groomed than what Yamaha has to offer, better looking and a bit more approachable than the Adventure R, and leaps and bounds above just about anything else. Is it a KTM 890 Adventure dressed up in a Swedish aesthetic? Yeah, it is. Could you call it a modern interpretation of the beloved KTM 950 and 990? Absolutely. But what it really is, is more than what lies beneath the plastic and cast aluminum parts. It’s the future, for Husqvarna, and for us adventure riders.
