2023 Tata Altroz EV Review : Powertrain & Range

The TATA Altroz EV is claimed to deliver a range of 250-300 km on a single charge, which is similar to that of the Nexon EV. Moreover, it is also believed that the Altroz EV will share the rest of the powertrain with the higher-priced Nexon EV. The car is said to come with 245 Nm torque and 129 hp horsepower. What’s more, the Altroz EV will utilise Tata’s signature battery technology called Ziptron, which ensures a maximum range and incorporates liquid cooling for covering long distances per charge.

Coming to the battery capacity, the Altroz EV is expected to be powered by a 28.0 kWh lithium-ion pack. The pack could be charged from 0 to 100 percent in about 8 to 9 hours using the box wall charger that comes along with the car. It will also feature a fast charging option, which can charge the battery pack to eighty percent in 60 minutes.

2023 Tata Altroz EV Review : Performance

The Altroz EV will be based on the ALFA-Arc Platform which has been specially developed for the Altroz EV from scratch. The battery pack on the Altroz EV will be a 28.0 kWh liquid-cooled, IP 67 lithium-ion pack which could generate around 100bhp. The EV will be based on the company’s Ziptron EV technology on which the Nexon EV is also based. With this, the Altroz, which never got an automatic gearbox, will now see a single-speed transmission (to give the feel of an automatic transmission) come in its EV avatar.

The charging time of the Altroz EV is expected to be an hour on DC fast charging (0-80%). The range of the lithium-ion battery pack on the Altroz is expected to be around 250km on a single charge. If Tata manages to maintain this charging time to range ratio, the Altroz will be a great product for city drives as well as highway drives to nearby places.

Our Opinion

The Altroz by Tata has impeccably created a demand among the Inidan consumers with its tweaked design and outstanding performance. Walking on same road, it is expected from Tata Altroz EV to repeat the history when it comes in the electrified avatar.
