Tata Motors unveiled the Avinya EV – an all-electric concept vehicle in April 2022. This model uses a new-gen platform developed by the brand and is likely to go on sale sometime in 2025.

The Avinya EV boasts futuristic and smoothed-surface design language. It features the ‘T’-shaped, full-length horizontal light bar at the front and rear – defining Tata Motors’ new brand identity. The electric vehicle also gets side view cameras acting as ORVMs. Besides this, the Avinya EV will be 4.3 metres in length.

Tata has developed this new third-generation electric-only architecture for a variety of EVs in the future. Avinya will be the first to utilise the platform. Moreover, it provides extra in-cabin space for the passengers.

Outside Design of 2023 TATA Avinya

Tata Motors took one more step forward in innovative technology and electric mobility by recently unveiling the all-new Avinya concept EV. This new concept EV is based on Tata’s new Gen 3 platform, which is meant to be developed for pure electric vehicles. Avinya’s production-spec model is likely to be available in 2025, and the range it will offer is expected to be more than 500 km. As far as its name is concerned, Avinya means innovation in Sanskrit, and Tata has done proper justice with the name.

With the Avinya, Tata Motors aims to tap into a new body style. Starting with the front, the Avinya Concept sports a massive rectangle-shaped design for the front bumper. It further houses the mesh pattern along with two U-shaped louvres. However, what catches one’s eye is the absence of the brand logo on the bonnet. Instead, Tata Motors has gone one step ahead and bestowed the Avinya with LED DRLs that run seamlessly across the width of the dual-tone bonnet, uniting at the centre to form a ‘T’.

At the side, the Avinya has shorter overhangs with the 22-inch swirl-shaped wheels pushed to the edges. The low and flat black roofline flows down to the C-pillar while the sharp L-shaped black insert on the doors gives an edgier look to a rather plain and crease-free body design. Debuting for the first time in any Tata Concept vehicle are the striking butterfly doors that open at the centre.

The design elements continue to get fascinating at the rear. The boot-lid mounted single-piece slim tail light stripe looks striking. Both the sides of the lamp are lifted off rather than hugging to the rear fenders. Further down, the rear bumper bears resemblance to the front while the ‘Avinya’ badge can be seen below the boot line.

Inside Features of 2023 TATA Avinya

Inside, there is a clean and very minimalist look to the cabin. There is no central infotainment screen on the dash; instead it has a slim, well-integrated screen in the dashboard above the sound bar, along with a new steering wheel that has an integrated screen for all the other information and controls. The far ends of the dash also have a screen to show the feed from the wing-mounted rear view cameras.

There is seating for up to five people with a plenty of legroom in both the rear bench style seats and the modern bucket seats up front that can swivel. Tata has also used sustainable materials throughout the interior and there is a neatly incorporated aroma diffuser in the centre armrest to add to the cabin’s unique ambience.

Tata’s Pure EV GEN 3 Architecture is set to offer next generation connectivity, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), enhanced performance and better efficiency. The platform has also been engineered to global standards with improved levels of water proofing and dust protection. Furthermore, the Tata Group will locally manufacture batteries, irrespective of the PLI, says chairman N Chandrasekaran. The battery used in the Avinya will support ultra-fast charging, with the ability to add a minimum 500km range in less than 30 minutes.

Powertrain Specifications of 2023 TATA Avinya

As per Tata’s blog, “The AVINYA concept stands for empathetic mobility, a machine that is engineered to be smart, spacious, sustainable yet techy. The agile and robust Pure EV GEN 3 Architecture offers this concept with a flexible design while boasting of next generation connectivity, advanced driver assistance systems and enhanced performance and efficiency.”

The concept is reportedly screen-less in order to put an end to distractions inside the car and also create a no-stress environment for the mind and soul. The carmaker has also promised generation connectivity, advanced driver assistance systems and enhanced performance and efficiency.

There will be butterfly doors on the car and a panoramic roof as well. The car will have a driving range of more than 500 km and a charge time of 30 minutes with the help of a DC fast charger.

Physical Measurement & Capacity of 2023 TATA Avinya

The Avinya concept is quite large in overall dimensions. With a length of 4,300mm (4.3 meters), it is almost as large as the Tata Harrier (which is 4,598 mm long). However, sources reveal that the production form will have slightly different dimensions. The skateboard structure of its platform allows the Avinya to have its wheels pushed to the extreme corners, thereby generating the maximum-possible cabin room. The flat floor and long wheelbase would further be of help here.

Features of 2023 TATA Avinya

The Tata Avinya concept’s front end is dominated by large DRLs on either side, with the Tata logo in the middle. A two-piece black insert will resemble a grille and stand out against the bumper’s body colour. Large alloy wheels, LED taillights, and an LED light bar extending the length of the tailgate complement the model’s blacked-out B-pillars and roof, which create a floating roof effect. The latter is given a two-tone design, while the bumper’s diffuser is coloured black.

The cabin of the Tata Avinya is decorated in a neutral beige and a warm brown, and it is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, a two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel with a floating instrument console, a soundbar in the centre of the dashboard, speakers mounted on the side of the front seats for the second-row passengers, and an aroma diffuser on the centre console.
