Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 Review 2022 – My Attitude My Bike : Hello friends, if you are thinking of buying a “Bike” and you have no detailed idea about car, I welcome you to this blog. Today I will let you know – “Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 Review 2022”.

Harley-Davidson had announced a slew of models to be launched in the next couple of years, and the Custom 1250 is one of those models. It will be based on a modular platform that will also be the base for its upcoming streetbike, and as the name suggests, will have a 1250cc engine. It will be essentially in the cruiser format, although it has a single seat that ends in a cowl that will be more at home on a café racer.

Similarly, the high-mounted exhausts would look more in place on a scrambler. Then there’s the front brake – it might displace 1250cc, but HD has seen fit to provide it with only one disc in the front. Despite all this, we think it will end up being a good seller for the company in markets where it is established.

Highlights of Harley-Davidson Custom 1250

The Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 will be an all-new model in the Custom lineup slated for launch at the end of this year. The Custom 1250 will bring a retro cruiser design with sharp and clean lines, single-seat support and high-mounted side exhausts on the side.

The Custom 1250 will be powered by a 1250cc engine with undisclosed figures. The performance and ride quality are expected to be top-notch by Harley standards. The Custom 1250, with its high-end performance and sharper looks is expected to be priced around ?16-17 lakh at the time of its launch. The snazzy Custom Harley will be facing direct competition from the Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 8V SE.

Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 Review 2022

Harley Davidson is one of the popular brands that are known for their iconic cruiser bikes all over the world. The company was founded by William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson and thus gets the name Harley-Davidson. Surviving the Great Depression of 1933 is one of the legendary feats of the company. The company gained recognition due to their powerful V-twin engine and the roadster body type. The brand is revered by bike lovers from all over the world and even from fan clubs that are dedicated to the brand.

Harley Davidson bikes are powered by engines of humongous power that make them appear on the superbikes list. Harley Davidson is known to make cruiser bikes, but only some of them are offered with the powerful engines.

The bike was manufactured at the American company’s Rushmore plant. The bike is built on the tourer bike platform that gives it cruiser bikes look. At the front, the bike features full LED headlight and twin fog lamps. To enhance the look of the bike, the front of the bike has a big front fairing with nakedly chiselled clear lens visor. For superior performance, the bike features Twin-Cooled™ Twin Cam 110™ engine that comes mated to a six-speed gearbox setup. The bike generates torque upto 156 Nm at 3750 rpm.

The bike features a large front cowl with windshield, low slung seating and carries bags behind the driver’s seat. The bike is powered by the 1.7-litre V-twin unit that produces close to 65bhp and 134Nm of torque; the engine allows the bike to generate high power at low acceleration.

The Forty-Eight is the sports series from the American bike manufacturer. The bike was made in the classic design alternative to the dark series sportsters. It has the traditional peanut-shaped tank, spoked wheels and lots of chrome. The bike runs on the Evolution® 1200 cc V-Twin engine that generates power upto 60.83 PS @ 5500 rpm and torque upto 96 Nm @ 4250 rpm.

The sleek body and a small fuel tank make the bike achieve great speeds. The bike features the LCD instrument panel integrated into the handlebar mount that gives the bike a minimal look. The squat, round, single-pod headlight unit now gets the full LED treatment, and the LED daytime running light (DRL) ring around the main light is a very distinctive touch.

There are many Harley Davidson superbikes in India, but due to their high price, they are only afforded by the people in the elite class. The brand has tough competition in the market with rivals like Indian, Moto Guzzi and Triumph but the upcoming Harley Davidson superbikes are expected to be one step ahead in the competition.

Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 Review 2022 : Specification

Harley-Davidson’s most traditional looking motorcycle from its new announcement is the Custom 1250. The Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 is based on the new middlweight modular platform that Harley-Davidson announced will give us motorcycles between 2020-2022. The bikes will range from 500 to 1250cc in four displacement classes and the 975 Streetfighter reveals two of the four classes. The Custom also features the same liquid-cooled engine format that the Pan America adventure tourer and the 975 Streetfighter boast albeit power and torque details are unknown at this time.

With big balloon tyres and an exhaust that reminds us strongly of the new Harley-Davidson Fat Bob, the Custom 1250 look butch and classy. But this is the ‘safest’ design and product category of all the motorcycles revealed today. It is a modern motorcycle in the sense that it uses a simple LED head lamp and we love the way the tail light as been integrated into the number plate mount. The Custom 1250 leads the onslaught that begins in 2020 with new bikes lined up all the way through 2022.

Featuring liquid-cooling, internal engine balancers to cancel primary and using the engine as a stressed member, the Revolution Max is an important step for H-D moving forward. Success of the new V-twin will quite likely decide if the American motorcycle maker is able to compete on an international stage in market areas outside its traditional comfort zone of luxury cruisers favouring looks over performance.

Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 Review 2022 : Impressive Looks

Coming to its design, Custom 1250 prototype shares many of its styling elements with Fat Bob. For example, its sleek headlamp and high-mounted shotgun dual exhaust. The motorcycle features a wide handlebar, single-piece saddle, side swingarm, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and chunky tyres with compact fenders.

Even though it received a stripped-down styling which is sportier than most other Harleys, its overall silhouette is still long and low like a cruiser. Interestingly despite its hefty design it still gets a single disc brake at the front.

Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 Review 2022 : Powertrain & Range

Many people on the internet took note when Harley-Davidson returned the 1250 prototype to the “coming soon” section of their website; myself included, you can find that article here. We now know for certain that the heritage-styled motorcycle will feature the same water-cooled 1250cc V-Twin Revolution powertrain found in the upcoming Pan America ADV bike and will be ready for a 2021 reveal.

This powertrain is a further step away from H-D’s traditional roots with the inclusion of this water-cooled engine, but the styling is not classic Harley-inspired either (It looks awesome). This classic Sportster truly looks ‘custom’ with its retro-future fusion of vintage styling and modern restomod. We all hope this bike will be getting a ton of aftermarket support to see what sort of builds riders decide to pursue with it.

Both motorcycles should finally be given their grand unveiling in 2021, and the Pan America will most likely come first as we’ve been waiting in anticipation for quite some time to see it get in the hands of the public to judge this radical leap for the sword and shield.

Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 Review 2022 : Performance

All of this suggests that “Custom” was always just a placeholder name and was not intended to be used for a production model. Harley-Davidson did the same thing with the Bronx, referring to it first as the Streetfighter 975 before revealing its eventual name.

So, what will the new model be called? Based on trademark applications filed in the last few years, two names stand out as potential monikers: Nightster and Bareknuckle. Bareknuckle is a somewhat awkward name, but it could be a fit if Harley-Davidson intends to market it as an aggressive, muscular model.

The black paint job and the blacked-out engine in the teaser image, however, might suggest the Nightster name may be a better fit. Of course, Nightster isn’t an entirely new name, as Harley-Davidson previously used it for a Sportster model.

Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 Review 2022 : Riding & Comfort

While the Custom 1250 has yet to receive an official name from H-D’s marketing division, styling for the new street bike is still long and low like a cruiser, with a flat tracker style seat while photos of the Bronx showed a motorcycle that fit more into the norm for motorcycle design. Exhaust pipes are high cut and exit on the right side and overall design is on the hefty side of things.

First of all, the 1250 Custom could just be one of the best performing bikes we’ve seen from Harley, with the new water-cooled unit (in Pan America trim) capable of producing 148bhp and 94lb-ft of torque. It’ll obviously be tuned significantly differently for the more laid-back cruiser, but the knowledge that there is more performance to be unlocked if needed is a tantalising prospect.

On the tech front the engine boasts variable valve timing (VVT), dual sparks plugs, and forged pistons, all of which are assumed to be crossing over to the new bike. With the VVT and other advancements, the Revolution Max engine should be supremely tractable, with torque in all the right places and exhaust emissions that are cleaner than a nun’s Gmail account.

The Revolution Max unit was also designed from the ground up to be as strong as possible, something that allows the Pan America to use it as a stressed member. Doing this allowed the Harley design team to make a frame that was much lighter and more compact than a conventional item. With this push for weight saving and mass centralisation seemingly being at the heart of the Pan America’s design, you wouldn’t bet against the 1250 Custom’s frame also being created in such a conscientious manner.

One of Harley-Davidson’s proudest moments during the online reveal for the new adventure bike was in the unveiling of a never seen before type of suspension system. It’s only available on the Special version of the bike and sees the machine reduce height when the rider comes to a halt. For many it is a necessity on a big, tall adventure machine – for the long and low Custom, it is less so. That said, we’d still expect the bike to be bristling with tech when it officially lands later this year. The IMU seems a sensible inclusion, and if Harley can include a TFT dash sympathetically to the machine, we could also see riding modes and other advanced safety systems.

Our Opinion

Harley-Davidson 1250 Custom is designed to give emphasis on comfort rather than sportiness and aggression as is in other Sportster models. It gets a single piece seat for rider and pillion but is well-padded.
