After teasing it some months back, Hyundai has finally unveiled the first-ever Stargazer MPV. Their entry into the small MPV segment, the 2023 Stargazer brings a sense of futuristic style with practical features aimed specifically at Southeast Asian families.

Specification of 2023 Hyundai Stargazer
The Indonesian model of the Stargazer will be powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine is capable of generating 113.4 bhp power and 145 Nm torque. The option of 6-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox has been given with this engine.
The engine options of the car can be kept in the Indian model of the Carens. In such a situation, not only 1.5 litre petrol but also 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine option will be given in it. Apart from this, it will also get the option of 1.4 litre turbo petrol engine giving power of 138 bhp, in which the option of manual and 7 speed DCT gearbox has been given.

2023 Hyundai Stargazer Review : Powertrain & Range
The Hyundai Stargazer MPV will be powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 115 bhp of power and 144 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and an IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission). The MPV offers a fuel tank of a 40-litres capacity.
As mentioned previously, the Stargazer is expected to be launched in India. The Indian bound spec is expected to get the same engine options as the Kia Carens, a 115 bhp, 1.5L VTVT NA petrol, a 115 bhp CRDi, 1.5L turbo diesel and a 140PS, 1.4L turbo GDi petrol.
2023 Hyundai Stargazer Review : Performance
Under the hood lies the 1.5-liter gasoline engine that puts out 113 hp and 144 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), or as Hyundai calls it, the Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). I was able to take the Stargazer for a quick drive during HMPH’s media preview. Philkotse’s video team was present during the said event. That said, we made it a point that all seven of us get onboard the Stargazer to see how it performs with seven people onboard.
The Stargazer showed that it has the capability to haul seven adults without a problem. It delivers adequate power although don’t expect to have a lively drive. It’s an MPV after all. I also noticed that it has a light steering feel, which could be beneficial in minimizing driver fatigue. Despite that, it still gives enough road feedback. The suspension is also good, leaning more on the soft side.
The A-pillar on the driver’s side creates a bit of a blind spot. But I do appreciate that the Stargazer has front-quarter glass, giving more visibility, especially on the passenger side. Expect more detailed driving impressions once we fully reviewed the 2023 Hyundai Stargazer.
Our Opinion
Hyundai is offering the Stargazer in 12 trims with both 6-seater options with captain seats and 7-seater options with a bench seat in the middle row. Starting with base Active trim followed by Trend, Style and lastly, top-spec Prime trims with single-tone and dual-tone options.
