Okinawa, AN Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturing company unveiled the prototype maxi-electric scooter- Cruiser.One of the first manufacturers to introduce electric scooters in the country, Okinawa will unveil a brand new battery-powered two-wheeler at the upcoming Auto Expo. Called the Okinawa Cruiser, this new electric scooter claims to go 120 kilometres on a full charge, can hit a top speed of 100 kmph and can recharge its battery within 2-3 hours, using a fast charger.
The manufacturer has teased an image of the Cruiser which does drop hints that this scooter’s styling will lean towards a Maxi-scooter-like design. However, if the aforementioned numbers do stay true during real-world usage, the Okinawa Cruiser could go on to become the fastest electric scooter in India. Not just that, it will also boast of the biggest number in terms of range and will also be the quickest when it comes to charging time required.
Living up to its maxi-scooter tag, it sports a bold front apron that houses a large LED headlamp and turn indicators. The long and swooping rear panel houses a spacious looking stepped seat that should be in a comfortable riding position with a pull-back handlebar and cruiser-like foot rests.
The e-scooter is also modern in terms of gizmos with anti-theft alarm, keyless ignition system, find my scooter function, mobile charging, USB port and motor walking assistance.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Okinawa Cruiser is likely to retail for around Rs 1.2 lakh, making it the most premium model to roll off Okinawa’s showrooms. This puts the Cruiser in the same space as other popular electric scooters such as the TVS iQube, and the Bajaj Chetak Electric. Similar to other players in the segment, the Okinawa Cruiser is expected to get techie features such as smartphone connectivity, and even a full color digital display.
