Royal Enfield’s next new motorcycle launch will be the new Royal Enfield Hunter 350, a roadster based on the same 350 cc J-platform shared by the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the Royal Enfield Classic 350. Now, leaked type approval documents reveal details like the dimensions, specification and power output of the new Royal Enfield Hunter 350. And as per the dimensions revealed in the documents, the Hunter 350 will be the smallest and most compact Royal Enfield motorcycle, with a smaller height, length and width along with a shorter wheelbase.
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 will have a kerb weight of around 180 kg, and will be at least 10-12 kg lighter than its other 350 cc siblings, the Meteor 350, and the Classic 350.
The type approval certificate issued by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), lists the upcoming Royal Enfield motorcycle to have the same 349.34 cc single-cylinder engine as shared by the Classic 350 and the Meteor 350, with the same maximum power output of 14.87 kW (20.2 bhp) at 6,100 rpm. Peak torque figures are not mentioned in the documents but are likely to be identical to the Meteor 350 and the Classic 350, with 27 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The 5-speed gearbox is also likely to be retained from the Classic 350 and the Meteor 350.
The Hunter 350 will be more agile, and should feel perkier as well, despite sharing the same 350 cc engine with its siblings, owing to the weight advantage.
The Hunter 350 will have a wheelbase of 1,370 mm, which is shorter than both the Classic 350 (1,390 mm), and the Meteor 350 (1,400 mm). The Hunter’s height, width and length will make it smaller compared to the other 350 cc Royal Enfield models, and it’s also expected to be the lightest, with a kerb weight of around 180 kg, making it a good 10-12 kg lighter than its siblings. With a short wheelbase and lighter kerb weight, the Hunter 350 is expected to be more agile, as well as feel slightly perkier in performance as well, compared to the Classic 350 and the Meteor 350.

The Royal Enfield Hunter will soon join the Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer’s portfolio and compete in the 350cc segment. The new Hunter 350 will share Royal Enfield’s J-Platform with the Meteor 350 and the Classic 350. Thus, it will have the same frame, cycle parts, and engine. The 349cc, air/oil-cooled engine comes linked to a five-speed gearbox and is tuned to produce 20.2bhp and 27Nm of peak torque.
The styling cues will include a neo-retro roadster design that is reminiscent of the Triumph Street Twin. Thus, the new Hunter 350 will feature a single-piece seat, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a round shape for the headlamp, tail lamp, turn signals, and mirrors. The motorcycle is expected to boast a low seat height and carry a kerb weight of around 190-195kg.
The hardware, too, will remain similar to the Meteor 350 and the Classic 350. Thus, the Hunter 350 will use telescopic front forks, twin rear shocks, and disc brakes on both ends. The safety net should include a single-channel ABS.

The first among these is Hunter 350, which has shed a lot of bulk in comparison to Meteor and Classic 350.
With Hunter 350, Royal Enfield will be targeting an entirely new segment of users. It can work for folks who are looking for a nimble-footed machine with retro profile. It includes the twin downtube spine frame, suspended on telescopic front forks and twin tube emulsion shock absorbers at rear. The bike could get 300 mm and 270 mm disc at front and rear, respectively. Hunter 350 is likely to get same-sized wheels at both ends, as compared to 19-inch front and 17-inch rear used with Meteor.
Powering the bike will be the 349cc motor that generates 20.2 bhp of max power at 6,100 rpm and 27 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh transmission. There are unlikely to be any performance tweaks for Hunter 350. Hunter 350 is scheduled to debut on August 7. It could be priced in the range of Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 1.7 lakh (ex-sh). In terms of pricing, it will take on rivals like TVS Ronin, Bajaj Dominar 250 and Yamaha FZ25.

Expect an ex-showroom price of about Rs. 1.6-1.7 lakh for the new, entry-level Royal Enfield. The launch is just around the corner.
Leaked homologation documents reveal that the Hunter 350 will measure 2,055 mm long, 800 mm wide and 1,055 mm tall. Wheelbase at 1,370 mm means that it should be the most flickable Royal Enfield in town. This also points to a shorter swing arm than other Royal Enfields, and even possibly a totally revised frame. The single seat that slopes upwards at the rear – a-la-Yezdi Scrambler – is something that’s quite unique on a Royal Enfield, and this should give the Hunter its youthful appeal.
