The Panigale V4R is a race bike that has been developed and marketed as a road bike. There are only a handful motorcycles on this planet that have been made for top-class racing and also sold to the consumers – the Ducati Panigale V4R is one of them.

The Panigale V4R with its racing intent is also one of the most powerful road bikes on this planet. It is loaded with performance and technologies that makes it an extremely focused motorcycle. The 998cc V4 engine makes a whopping 221bhp at 15,250rpm and maximum torque of 112Nm at 11,500rpm. This motor is mated to a six-speed race gearbox with Ducati quickshift.

In terms of equipment, the bike is loaded with the world’s best. The Panigale V4R gets various riding and power modes, cornering ABS, traction control system, wheeli control, slide and engine braking control. There’s also an auto tyre calibration. The bike also gets power launch, full LED lights, GPS module, lap timer, Ohlins steering damper and other weight saving measures like forged wheels and carbon fibre mudguards. This Ducati weighs only 193kgs, making it to have one excellent power-to-weight ratios.

The Panigale V4R is expected to be launched in India in the next few months and will come as a completely-built-up(CBU) unit. The bike will be extremely expensive and will be bought by only a few.

Ducati Panigale V4 R Review 2022 : Specification

The heart of this fearsome Ducati motorcycle is a 998cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine. It has a smaller displacement than its stablemates, but it has more power. In fact, in stock from the Panigale V4 R produces a mammoth 221 horsepower, with 83 lb-ft of torque. But that’s only half of the story. With Ducati’s race kit installed, that power output soars to 234 horsepower with the overall weight of the bike dropping to 165.5 kg (364.9 lbs), giving the Ducati Panigale V4 R a power-to-weight ratio of 1.41!

Standard equipment for the Panigale V4 R includes cornering ABS, advanced traction control, wheelie control, slide control, engine brake control, ride modes, power modes, and more. Other top features include Öhlins event-based, semi-active suspension, Brembo brakes, and a liberal splash of carbon fiber.

For 2022, the Panigale V4 R is available in Ducati’s R livery, featuring Ducati Red and brushed aluminum.

Ducati Panigale V4 R Review 2022 : Impressive Looks

In terms of looks, the Ducati Panigale V4 R is aggressive and it is sure to catch the attention of biking enthusiasts. The bike features triangular headlamp pods, LED DRLs, revised side fairing and also a dual-tone fuel tank which adds to its appeal. The bike comes with a new fairing having elements of MotoGP origin and an aero package which functions to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of this bike. Even the front cowl has distinct aerodynamic design. The specially designed air vents on the fairing aid to dissipate the heat out from the engine.

The new the Ducati Panigale V4 R has a wheelbase of 1471mm and a saddle height of 830 mm. The dry weight of the bike is 172 kg and it comes with a 16-litre fuel tank. The bike also comes with lightweight forged Marchesini wheels to suit its thrilling performance.

Ducati Panigale V4 R Review 2022 : Powertrain & Range

The 998 cc Ducati Panigale V4R is one of the most powerful and high revving normally aspirated production motorcycle and produces 205 horsepower at and incredibly high 15500 rpm to the rear wheel. Torque is a very impressive 79 ft/lb at 11500 rpm.

The engine is ballistically fast but does require typically higher rpm to get moving versus other 1000 cc competitors but is almost untouchable at the top of the rpm with perhaps the exception of the latest S1000RR and CBR1000RR-R.

The V4R may have less horsepower and torque than the 1100 cc V4 but as the engine can rev higher the V4R does run with lower gearing. Individual gears are the same but the V4R runs with a 42 rear sprocket and 15 front versus a 41 rear and 16 front the larger 1100 V4.

This means that despite the lower torque and power through the rev range the V4R can match the V4 in terms of in-gear acceleration though will be tunning higher rpm.

The Panigale V4R is perhaps if excluding the Superleggera is likely the fastest accelerating motorcycle. Perhaps not from a dig but certainly if moving at any speed and to180-190 mph there is not much that can touch it.

From a dig the V4R is nothing special with a 0-60 mph time of 3.03 seconds and 0-100 mph time in 5.30 seconds, times which are all standard for most 1000 cc motorcycles. 0-200 km/h is a little over 7 seconds at 7.09 seconds.

It is not until the V4R gets into third gear where it is able to really start putting its power down effectively as it charges toward the quarter mile hooking fourth and passing with a time of 9.95 seconds and at a crazy high 159 mph terminal which really demonstrates the V4R’s top end power.

After the quarter mile the V4R still charges extremely hard as it continues and clocks 180 mph in only 13.54 seconds. Top speed for the Ducati V4R is198 mph but with an ECU flash and restrictions removed 210-215 mph would easily be achieved.

Ducati Panigale V4 R Review 2022 : Performance

Ducati Panigale V4 R BS6 is a super sports bike, it is available in 1 variant. Panigale V4 R generates 221 HP @ 15,250 rpm of power and 112 Nm @ 11,500 rpm of torque from its 998cc, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke, 16-valve, liquid-cooled, fuel injection engine. Panigale V4 R has a 6-speed manual gearbox (Ducati Panigale V4 R top speed is 335 km/h) with front double disc brakes and rear single disc brake also have a dual-channel ABS (Anti-Locking Braking System). Available in 1 colour. Ducati Panigale V4 R Price in India: Standard – ₹52,50,000 (Expected) in Delhi.

The Panigale V4 R is a racing bike type-approved for road use and is the technical starting point from which the official Ducati Superbike models that will compete starting from the 2019 racing season derive.

The Desmosedici Stradale R is a more responsive engine that allows ensuring a greater sprint. This results in 221 HP that react immediately to the throttle inputs, delivered at 15,250 rpm (values referring to EU type-approval). Impressive figures that become even more amazing by fitting the full-racing exhaust Ducati Performance by Akrapovič: the maximum power to 234 HP @ 15,500 rpm.

The Front Frame of the Panigale V4R, developed in collaboration with the engineers of Ducati Corse, is optimised for racing use with fully mechanical Öhlins steering damper and suspensions, including the new pressurised front fork and the swinging arm with a four-way adjustable pin.

Ducati Panigale V4 R Review 2022 : Riding & Comfort

For starters, there is an adjustable swingarm pivot, and the mechanical Öhlins suspension pieces, which reduce weight compared to the electronically controlled pieces from the Swedish brand.

This of course means that there is no electronic suspension on the Panigale V4 R, but Ducati has updated the rider aid package to include a pit lane limiter as well as a GPS-powered lap timer.

Cornering ABS, IMU-assisted traction control (with slide control), wheelie control, launch control, and rear-wheel slide control continue as part of the electronics package. And so far, the response from racers, both in WorldSBK and BSB, has been positive about the machine’s capabilities.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR of Jonathan Rea might be the machine to beat next year, but we suspect that all eyes will be on the ride Ducatis with Chaz Davies and Alvaro Bautista at the helms.

Our Opinion

The Panigale V4 R is a piece of art from Ducati which uses the brand’s supreme engineering. In my views, words would be less to explain the feeling one would get on this bike. A complete adrenaline flow, we could say that it’s not meant for riders with soft hearts as it uses the whopping power of 221 hp along with 82.6 Pound-Feet of peak torque. The exclusivity of bike could be understood only by this that only five units of it offered for the Indian market.
