Polestar 2 Review 2022 – My Dream My Car : Hello friends, if you are thinking of buying a “Car” and you have no detailed idea about car, I welcome you to this blog. Today I will let you know – “Polestar 2 Review 2022”.

Emblazoned with the name of Volvo’s former racing team, the Polestar 2 is Volvo Car Group’s flagship EV, a luxury 5-door liftback sedan that debuted in 2019. The car is an all-electric successor to the hybrid Polestar 1. On the roads in limited numbers compared to the industry’s leader Tesla, the Polestar 2 is nevertheless gaining traction in Europe and the USA. Its current incompatibility with the type of Tesla superchargers currently available in America has probably delayed its wider adoption here.

Overall, the Polestar is a modestly luxurious executive-style EV for a relatively moderate price. Its modern conveniences and features improve the driving experience, passenger comfort, and safety. When it comes to pros and cons, the Polestar 2’s biggest downside is that it doesn’t stand out from the competition with any unique capabilities or outstanding performance metrics. Competent, well-made, and somewhat generic, this Scandinavian-engineered EV offers solid service by the standards expected by most EV drivers.

Briefly of Polestar 2 Review 2022

The Polestar 2 is an electric vehicle that combines the styling of a sedan, the practicality of a hatchback, and the raised seating height of a crossover. As part of Volvo’s EV subsidiary, Polestar, this model comes only with a large battery pack and an electric motor powering the front wheels—or two electric motors if you opt for the more powerful all-wheel-drive setup.

Either way, it’s a pleasant car to drive, and its minimalist interior is spacious and appealing. The single-motor version offers up to 270 miles of range according to the EPA, while the dual-motor version is rated to deliver 260 miles of range.

Polestar 2 Review 2022 – My Dream My Car

Polestar 2 Review 2022

The Polestar 2 sits on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, which is also used for the Volvo XC40. The Polestar 2 has a saloon-look bodystyle, but is actually a five-door hatchback with a slightly elevated ride height. This gives it a unique shape that’s not quite a crossover, but still offers decent family practicality.

Polestar introduced an entry-level 2 model in 2021, priced at just under £40,000. It features a 64kWh battery and a single, 221bhp front-mounted motor and is good for up to 295 miles from a single charge. A long range single motor version, including a bigger 78kWh battery is available for an extra £3,000 – again this is front-wheel-drive, but offers a slight increase in power to 228bhp, with a maximum range of 336 miles. A 78kWh dual-motor (all-wheel-drive) version sits at the top of the price list; with 402bhp and 660Nm of torque it manages 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds, with range falling to 298 miles.

In keeping with its unique sense of style, Polestar has done away with traditional trim levels and instead offers three additional packs that build on the already generous level of standard equipment. The Pilot pack offers extra autonomous safety kit and upgraded LED headlights, while the Plus pack includes items such as a Harman Kardon audio system, a fixed panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable front seats and a heated steering wheel.

The Performance pack brings kit that is primarily focused on improving the driving characteristics of the car, including Brembo brakes, Ohlins dampers and 20-inch forged alloy wheels, along with gold-coloured seat belts to match the colour of the brake calipers.

Polestar is clearly taking direct aim at the Tesla Model 3. But such is its capability that it will no doubt be under consideration from customers looking at the latest premium EVs from BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Audi and Volkswagen.

Specification of Polestar 2

The Polestar 2 is a battery electric 5-door liftback produced by the Swedish automaker Volvo under its Polestar sub-brand. Based on the CMA platform, production began in March 2020 at the Luqiao CMA Super Factory in Luqiao, China.

Polestar 2 is the second car under the Polestar brand after the Polestar 1. Polestar 1 is however a plug-in hybrid and limited production vehicle, making the Polestar 2 the first BEV and mass production Polestar vehicle in the Volvo Car Group.

Polestar 2 Review 2022 : Frist Impressive Looks

The Polestar 2, a medium sedan that joins the onslaught of electric vehicles from mainstream manufacturers. Australians are buying electric cars in every larger numbers and with an increasing array of choices available to them, the fight is on to stand out from the crowd and make an impact.

The Polestar 2 certainly does that in terms of its styling, which is at once modern and sleek. Pleasingly, it’s classified as a medium sedan, despite the presence of cladding around the wheel arches, flourishes often deemed enough to ensure a car is deemed an SUV.

The Polestar 2 range encompasses three variants. The range starts with the $59,900 and clumsily named Standard Range Single Motor, moves into the $64,900 Long Range Single Motor and tops out with the $69,900 Long Range Dual Motor. It should be noted those prices are for 2022 models, with the price set to rise for the 2023 model year. You can read more about that here.

The car we have here sits in the middle of the ladder – the Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor. It’s powered by a, as the name suggests, single 170kW/330Nm electric motor sending drive to the front wheels. Feeding the motor is a 78kWh (75kWh usable) battery pack that offers a claimed driving range of 540km. For context, the Standard Range offers a claimed 470km of range.

Standard equipment highlights include a 11.15-inch infotainment touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument display, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, keyless entry, a hands-free powered tailgate, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and a smattering of advanced safety features like autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assist.

Polestar 2 Review 2022 : EV Motor, Power, and Performance

Unlike the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive variants of the Polestar 2, versions equipped only with the 231-hp single motor are front-wheel drive. This variant delivered an unexceptional 6.8-second 60-mph time in our testing. The more powerful dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup, which features an electric motor on both axles and generates a total system output of 408 horsepower, zipped to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds.

Our dual-motor test vehicle was equipped with the Performance package, which includes 20-inch wheels and summer tires, stiffer suspension components as well as adjustable Öhlins dampers, and upgraded Brembo front brakes. This combination contributed to the 2’s 0.90 g of cornering grip and 157-foot stopping distance from 70 mph in our tests.

Polestar also provides three levels of regenerative braking, with the strongest capable of bringing the car to a complete stop without you touching the brake. While the aforementioned kit caters to the enthusiast crowd, we’re convinced the 2 rides better on the base suspension.

Polestar 2 Review 2022 : Range, Energy & Charging

When it comes to range and efficiency, the single motor pushes ahead with 270 miles on a single charge and combined city and highway driving with 107 MPGe. The dual-motor lags behind with only 260-mile range and 89 MPGe, combined. The Model 3 outperforms in efficiency (132 MPGe), but the Polestar improves the Mach-E and XC40 Recharge’s lower range and efficiency.

An aggressive regenerative braking option can improve range and fuel efficiency, which ranges from 31 to 38 kWh per 100 miles (34 kWh/100 miles is considered average).

The 11 kW onboard charger makes quick work of a DC fast charging station, taking under 80 minutes to fully charge from empty. Polestar 2 customers receive two free years of 30-minute charging sessions on 150 kW plugs on the Electrify America network. On a Level 2 charger, likely installed at home, it’ll need to sit overnight for 8 hours.

Polestar 2 Review 2022 : Interior and Android Automotive

Transitioning inside the cabin, one can see many similarities to Volvo cars, as the Polestar 2 has a Scandinavian-inspired design. Take for example the centre console, it’s symmetrical, minimalistic and has a stylish gear selector that has an illuminated Polestar logo; it’s not overly complicated nor void of any physical controls either, making for an intuitive experience.

While the centre console dominates the front of the cabin, it does blend with the rest of the vehicle’s muscular exterior design and makes room for the 11.15″ display that’s planted at the centre of the dashboard.

The infotainment system gives you the ability to adjust the climate controls, tinker with the vehicle’s driving settings and also integrates Android Automotive. Indeed, the Polestar 2 was the first car to fully utilise Google’s services, where it natively supports Google Maps, Google Play and Google Assistant, the latter is arguably the best virtual assistant any company has to offer – you can ask it any question and it’ll pick up on your voice (and accent) and provide an answer from Google Search.

Polestar 2 Review 2022 : Comfort Driving

The Polestar 2 provides a pleasing amount of comfort in such a compact package. The ride quality is firm but not so much as to be uncomfortable. And if you’re so inclined to crawl under the car to manually adjust them, there are 22 available settings in the optional Performance pack’s Ohlins adjustable dampers. Noise is also very well isolated, and vibrations and squeaks were nonexistent in our test vehicle.

The seats provide ample cushioning and support over long distances, but we noticed the non-perforated upholstery lacked breathability. The seat heaters, front and rear, work great and have multiple levels of heat. The climate system’s power is more than adequate and is easy enough to adjust.

Our Opinion

We love the Polestar 2 because it’s handsome, the build quality will give Audi drivers PTSD, and there’s a real sense of common sense about the car – that it’s been designed to work seamlessly, not to wow you with gimmicks then wind you up further down the line. Single Motor iterations make it more accessible for most too.
